Executive Banquet Chef (Wayne)

Large Banquet Venue in Wayne NJ is seeking a full-time skilled Banquet Chef to join our Banquet and Catering team. In this role, you will be preparing, cooking, and presenting food for large events, including weddings, bar mitzvahs, and other social events. Weekend, daytime, evenings and holiday availability is required.

As tour Executive Banquet Chef, you will be responsible for:

Ordering & Preparing large quantities of stocks, sauces, meats, seafood, vegetables, and other items efficiently for special function purposes (such as menu tastings and other banquets and catering events)

Meticulously following standard recipes and client specifications during food preparation, ensuring portion control, quality, and accommodating special dietary requirements as outlined in banquet menus

Coordinating dish preparation timing to ensure all food is served hot and at the same time, while arranging dishes with meticulous attention to detail and aesthetic appeal, including thoughtful garnishing

Assist the kitchen team with preparing buffet platters and banquet presentation displays, ensuring all setups for parties and functions are completed in a timely manner

Coordinating kitchen staff for all events and collaborating with kitchen staff, front-of-house management and servers to ensure smooth, efficient service and an exceptional event experience

Following all kitchen preparation and closing procedures meticulously to ensure efficient operation and maintain cleanliness standards

Ensuring daily wrapping, dating and replenishment of all food items stored in designated areas

Using food preparation equipment according to manufacturers’ instructions

Maintaining cleanliness of the work station, kitchen equipment and other areas pertaining to the kitchen.

Ensuring compliance with all local health codes and HACCP procedures, maintaining proper organization, temperatures and cleanliness standards

Assisting with the preparation of other food products on the serving line as needed

Attending kitchen staff meetings and actively contribute to discussions

Completing other related tasks as assigned

Requirements:

Experienced - required minimum of three years in kitchen operations, food preparation and execution

Established in maintaining professional standards of conduct and appearance

Certified in food safety (preferred)

Have the ability to work effectively within a team environment

Flexible with working weekends and holidays

Knowledgeable and consistently follows food safety practices; able to perform during emergency situations

Comfortable working in hot, humid and/or noisy environment

Capable of standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending and/or reaching for long periods of time; can push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds
