please send resumes to or contact atOne of our prestigious clients in NYC is looking for a data center engineerData Center & Infrastructure Engineer Data Center Engineering Purpose of the role: Working within clients various Data Centers in New Jersey, the role holder will be responsible for the physical build and maintenance of our environment. Working closely with our Network and Systems engineering teams and our Project Management and client Service Delivery functions to ensure prompt delivery of all projects. With a structured approach, strong team ethos and the flexibility and commitment to solve problems and get things done, the role holder will be a key member of this small but highly skilled and integral team. A key requirement of this job is flexibility as the role holder will be expected to work in short change windows, late at night and out of hours (including Saturdays and Sundays). Responsibilities and duties (include but not limited to) This includes, but is not limited to the following services:

  • Equipment Rack and Stack • Cable, Label & terminate fiber or copper network cabling
  • Assist with the diagnosis of hardware and software • Perform cabinet/cage audits • Blade/Card, Memory, Hard Drive, and Transceiver installations or removal
  • Testing and troubleshooting of copper and fiber optic circuits
  • Perform migrations of equipment, power, or networking devices
  • Shipping and Receiving of packages in Office and co-locations
  • Receive, log, and store internal packages
  • Help Security administer access for internal and external customers
  • Receive, install, and test cross connects (copper/fiber)
  • Provide timely updates using a computer-based ticketing system
  • Perform and document inventory verification/counts and rack elevation
  • Monitor and report on power utilization in co-locations, Power cycling of equipment
  • Maintain overall Data Centre cleanliness and appearance
  • Work flexible shift schedules including rotational on-call coverage
  • Report to the facility within a 1-hour average for emergency outage assistance Education, Skills and background (incl. Education and Experience Requirements)
  • 2+ years of experience in Telecommunications or Data Centre related field • In depth knowledge of Telecom structured cabling standards • Knowledge of network device / server deployment • Knowledge of DCO standards and operations • Ability to legally work within the United States • 2+ years use of industry standard test equipment • Effective organizational skills and high attention to detail • Strong troubleshooting skills • Professional business communication and interpersonal skills • Mission Critical Data Centre Facility Maintenance Working Arrangements This is a non-office-based position. Travel between data centers in New Jersey (and occasionally beyond) will be required intermittent basis, sometimes at short notice. The role holder will be expected to work whatever hours are necessary for the performance of this role (recognizing that it involves multiple jurisdictions / geographies)
Standard working hours for this position will be: Tuesday – Friday 4 PM to 12 Midnight Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM Other important information Physical demands of the position include: • Lift and handle up to 50 pounds • Bend, stoop, and stretch as required for placement and retrieval of network devices, materials, or equipment • Climb ladders (up to a 16 feet) to reach plenum spaces • Driver’s license is required
