Job Title: Greenskeeper

Location: Metedeconk National Golf Club

Reports to: Golf Course Superintendent or Grounds Manager

Job Summary:

The Greenskeeper will be responsible for the maintenance of the golf course's turf, landscapes, and grounds to ensure they are in top condition for play. This includes mowing, fertilizing, irrigating, and performing general landscaping tasks. The Greenskeeper will also assist with special projects as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent and ensure the safety and quality of the grounds.

Key Responsibilities:

Turf Maintenance:

Mow and edge greens, tees, fairways, and rough areas regularly to maintain optimal playing conditions.

Monitor turf health and address issues such as weeds, disease, or pests.

Aerate, seed, and overseed turf areas as needed to promote healthy growth.

Irrigation:

Landscape and Grounds Maintenance:

Trim trees, shrubs, and other plants, ensuring they do not interfere with play.

Remove debris such as leaves, litter, and branches from the course.

Maintain sand traps and bunkers, including raking and adding new sand as needed.

Assist with the upkeep of clubhouse landscaping, parking lots, and other grounds areas.

Equipment Operation:

Safely operate and maintain various equipment, including mowers, aerators, irrigation tools, and utility vehicles.

Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment.

Safety and Compliance:

Report hazards, damaged equipment, and unsafe conditions to management.

Special Projects and Seasonal Tasks:

Assist with course improvements and special projects, such as redesigning landscapes or course features.

Perform seasonal tasks like winterizing the course or preparing it for spring.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Previous experience in golf course maintenance or landscaping is preferred but not required.

Knowledge of turfgrass management and golf course operations is a plus.

Skills & Abilities:

Ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment safely and effectively.

Knowledge of turf care practices.

Strong physical stamina and ability to work in all weather conditions.

Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
