job summary:

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintain technical/technology solutions on terminal equipment, automation firmware; documentation of technical specifications for equipment; equipment/systems assembly/installation; workbench testing and end user training and support.
  • Provide support on automation infrastructure and work with other terminal areas/teams.
  • Ensure that automation infrastructure implementation works24x7 and support the maintenance and deployment of our client Terminal's technology components.
  • Support infrastructure, hardware configuration and firmware specification for maintaining operational readiness/configuration of container terminal specific equipment (yard cranes, top handler, rail equipment, terminal tractors etc).
  • Installs, modifies and makes minor repair to hardware and firmware on the equipment and provide technical assistance and training to system users. This includes setup of equipment and application client setup.

  • Responds to departmental inquiries concerning system operational and diagnose system/machine hardware, firmware and operator/user problems.
  • Provide inputs to the development of strategy, policy, and standards within specific areas of expertise.
  • Support and maintain the implementation of information security by ensuring compliance from design to deployment of infrastructure, network, communication system and tracking systems.
  • Maintain compliance to policy and standards established for the department and of our client way of working.
  • Maintain confidentiality of work done in our client Terminals.
  • Contribute to the new projects, provide support within the defined scope, defined time and allocated budget.
  • Answers inquiries regarding status on resolving equipment automation and hardware infrastructure problems.
  • Have a continuous improvement mindset for the system and processes within respective area of responsibilities.
  • Proactively engage with the maintenance shops, labor and community to collect information about problem. Lead users through the diagnostic procedures to determine error or problems. More complex problems are managed under supervision.
  • Share knowledge and expertise in order to prepare internal successors ready for the incumbent's position and other lower key positions in the department. Do knowledge sharing with other department resources.
  • Perform proactive maintenance and execute the day to day administration and operations for Asset Digitization area.
  • Interact with vendors for hardware, formware and standard configuration in accordance with our client IT policy and standards.

Internal Our client management at the terminal doing day to day maintenance operations.

External External contractors or business partner that are part of the implementation team.

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Requires a degree in electrical, electronics/instrumentation or control/electro mechanical; with a related experience within the Industrial environments.
  • Preferred certification on PLC & SCADA systems design & administration and maintenance.
  • Have at least one to two years of support/handling/coordination experience.
  • Must have an understanding of LAN/WAN, automation systems, installation, administration and on-going maintenance.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of Instrumentation & Control devices and their integration in an industrial environment.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of sensor and monitoring technologies which are used in the automation and control equipment.
  • Understanding of IT, Port Equipment, automated systems and controls and related industrial infrastructure architecture;
  • Requires demonstrated ability and knowledge to troubleshoot a wide variety of Automation and Control infrastructure, network, firmware and communication problems as they arise in the workplace.

  • Must have the ability to logically solve problems of relatively high complexity.
  • Must be multi-task oriented with proven ability to execute several activities simultaneously.
  • Must be proactive with the ability to anticipate internal client requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Must have good analytical skills to be able to relate and analyze the business requirements and configure the Infrastructure to meet the business needs.

  • Ability to assess business issues, identify risks and to interpret them into technology solutions/requirements;

  • Should be familiar with the port/container terminal business and operational processes;
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain technical and process documentation for both existing implementations and new implemented solutions.
  • Languages Known:

    • Speak/Write/Understand English on working and communication level is a must.

Responsible for maintaining and supporting automation technology solutions within our client. Responsible for maintenance and for execution of functions that relate to asset digitization & to automation infrastructure per our client standards.

Configures, installs and maintains automation software, automation hardware, infrastructure and communication services such as positioning systems, location and RFID systems, bridges, switches, cabling and equipment automation firmware.

Ensure adherence of best practices regarding automation solution, incl. incorporating recommendation from other of my client's Terminals/regions.

Ensuring fulfilment of the SLAs established for the area and for the terminal.

Contribute to cost efficiencies by identifying saving opportunities or by manifesting cost conscious approach.
