We need YOU!Where the chemistry happens…The Leave Counselor is responsible for the confidential management of Leaves of Absence and disability claims for Management Represented and Union employees (US and Canada). This includes, but is not limited to, entire duration of leave process, transparent and timely status updates to employees and managers, close collaboration with Medical and EEOC when applicable, maintaining detailed case records, regulatory compliance on Federal FMLA, HIPPA and various State sick pay laws, notifications and communications to appropriate parties (Managers, Employees, Site medical contacts, myHR team, HR, Legal, EEOC, etc), return to work and ADA accommodations management as needed and ensuring accurate and timely pay.As a Leave Specialist, you create chemistry by
Providing a positive experience for employees, supervisors, Human Resources.
Managing complex disability and FML leave of absence cases.
Intaking and special handling of all escalated leaves (telephonic or system reported).
Timely and accurate notification to the Data Management or Payroll when manual intervention is required (not passed on nightly interface file).
Facilitating return to work with employee, manager, site medical contact, and HR.
Conducting audit reviews to ensure pay, status, direct billing and plan requirements are maintained including appropriate reductions.
Developing/Reviewing update Communications as needed and required by Federal and State law.
Coordinating Disability Retirements for union populations.
Monitoring LTD claimants for retirements, terminations, and benefits (i.e. continuedlife).
Partnering with LOA Manager with escalated issues and other areas of the organization (EEOC, Medical, site HR etc.)
Analyzing data and provide reports as needed.
Managing and monitoring random drug testing program.
Leading/participating in Special projects.
Your formula to success
BS/BA Degree preferred with a minimum 3-5 years of leave of absence experience.
Knowledge of U.S. & Canada state and federal HR governmental compliance requirements (FMLA, HIPPA, Sick pay laws, ADA, etc.). Knowledge of managing employee accommodations and compliance with ADA regulations.
Previous Customer Service/Claim experience in Leave of absence administration, Disability Case Management and Benefits Administration.
Professional level experience in leave management, disability claim management and benefits administration. Broad understanding of various leave types, for example; Military, State and Federal FMLA, FLA, CFRA, ADA, short & long-term disability and the effect on other benefits and the downstreamimpacts.
Demonstrated ability to manage and administer a broad range of leave of absence processes while interpreting policies and procedures for confidential and sensitive information.
Timely and accurate processing of all leaves and disability claims.
Self-motivated with with excellent organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills as well as attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to set priorities and exercise sound judgment.
Demonstrated ability to learn new procedures and process quickly while developing agile solutions to solve problems. As well as ability to understand processes, systems and the downstream impact of data.
Experience supporting the Leave of absence function for employee types and multiple sites including Internal manufacturing.
Ability to problem solve and provide guidance. Ability to work independently and in a team environment while managing multiple priorities and interact with employees and leaders at all levels within the organization and medical professionals.
