Date Posted:3/11/2025 Job Code:BC-MACH3-7 Location:40150 - Mechanical Maintenance Address:600 Wilson Avenue City:Newark State:NJ Country:United States of America Category:Plant Maintenance Description Position Summary: Responsible for the repair, fabrication, machining and modification of parts as replacements for the process equipment throughout the plant. Reference experience and license requirements for this level position. Minimum Requirements Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. Must be able to read blueprints and understand, interpret, and apply the information from prints and drawings to all machine shop notations and practices. Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written instructions. Must be able to plan and lay out work using a variety of machinist’s hand tools and precision measuring instruments; set up and operate standard machine tools; shape metal parts to close tolerances; and make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds and speeds of machining. Must have knowledge of the working properties of the common metals, fitting and assembling parts into mechanical equipment. Must be available for emergencies or job assignments on a twenty-four (24) hour basis. Must possess and maintain a valid New Jersey Driver's License. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Maintenance Apprentice. Education: High School Diploma, Vocational School Diploma, or equivalency certificate. Advanced training at a technical college or trade school is desirable. Working Conditions: Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work indoors and outdoors. Physical Demands: Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself or others is maintained. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs, and the whole body such as climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping and handling heavy objects. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks as well as SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus), in compliance with PVSC’s Facial Hair Grooming Policy.
