Responsibilities:
  • Develops maintenance and logistics documentation for the operations and maintenance of operational systems.
  • Conducts engineering analyses, investigations and assessments of ground-based systems and component parts such as ASOS, COOP, and other related systems.
  • Supports the performance of operations and maintenance for these systems including hardware availability, reliability, and trend analysis.
  • Supports the development, testing, implementation and maintenance of new ASOS/AOMC initiatives including documenting and reviewing test procedures, supporting test set-up and configuration, performing test, download and review test data, and certifying results.
  • Supports the ASOS Operations Monitoring Center (AOMC) 24x7x365 Infrastructure made up of RedHat, Microsoft Windows, and Cisco equipment (this position involves operational ownership of the Linux environment).
  • Provides technical ASOS program knowledge to the NWS to provide services to include analysis to assist in making operational decisions.
  • Provides 24x7x365 operations supporting the NWS field operations in maintaining the availability of all ASOS sites.
  • Develops and maintains ASOS software user manual and ASOS software requirements specification documents.
  • Coordinate with the AOMC Lead to provide documentation for FAA, NWS, Navy, Air Force, and Army activities.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of IT system architecture.
  • Provides maintenance engineering support and assistance.
  • Participates in 100% technical refresh of AOMC enterprise.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related discipline with an emphasis in maintenance and operations.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience supporting 24/7 operations, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment, including virtual environment technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with software development for monitoring and tracking equipment performance (Ticketing Systems).
  • Demonstrated experience in the troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment, experience working and participating with other engineers and technicians in the investigation, analysis, testing, diagnosis, modification and collection of complex electronic systems, sub-systems and equipment.
  • Linux experience preferred.
