Job Description:
Position Summary: This Senior Architect position reports into the IT Engineering department at ETS. The role is responsible for researching, architecting, and building solutions for internal and external clients and customers - it is a "hands on" role as much as it is a pure architectural role. The primary space for this solution development is in public cloud (AWS, Azure, other), although many solutions will require on premise/hybrid connectivity and linkages. The role works across several areas of IT to pull together solutions that meet reference architecture standards while utilizing cloud native services and other current technologies. The role is expected to step into Agile development activities in Engineering as customer demand dictates, and collaborate effectively in Lead-type functions, as needed, with customers and other stakeholders. Responsibilities:- Quickly produce prototypes and POCs of new technology solutions (hands on development and engineering tasks).
- Develop and document architecture solutions for internal and external customers.
- Facilitate cross team collaboration by working with other IT areas to bring solutions to go live.
- Establish standards/best practice in design patterns, code standards and deployments
- Work in Agile methodologies and teams
- Provide reviews, feedback, and guidance on other solutions, and address questions posed by other development and engineering teams.
- Maintain a broad knowledge of new technical tools and trends and apply those tools to improving business processes.
- Maintain a broad business understanding including customer and market trends.
- Bachelor's degree with extensive coursework in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
- Development in Python, Typescript, Javascript, Powershell
- Unix command line
- Infrastructure as code, CloudFormation or similar
- Broad use of AWS services including serverless, including CDK
- Experience using JBOSS, Apache, Tomcat, Windows Server, IIS
- Docker experience or equivalent container experience
- Working on Agile/Scrum teams, leading architecture discussions, collaboration across multiple teams
- Preferred Experience
- Working knowledge of DevOps tool sets, Gitlab, Artifactory, Maven, SonarQube, or similar CI/CD tooling
- Working knowledge of Postgress, SQL Server, or similar database platforms
