The Position The Senior Manager Market Access Channel Strategy is part of a team responsible for developing channel strategies that will ensure the best possible access position for existing and future NNI products. Identifies and delivers an understanding of landscape, changes, and trends in the Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid channels across all NNI therapeutic areas. Collects, analyzes, and interprets data to identify opportunities and threats across the commercial and government channels. Supports execution across the healthcare ecosystem using an enterprise-wide mindset while ensuring a consistent and focused approach to NNI opportunities in the future. Focuses on the broader portfolio and pipeline, inclusive of Diabetes and Obesity, and works closely with other teams within Market Access and Public Affairs, Commercial, Marketing, Finance, and Marketing. Relationships Member of the Market Access & Public Affairs (MAPA) Channel Strategy Team, reporting to Director, Market Access Medicare Strategy. Interacts frequently in collaboration with internal management and senior level representatives, including MAPA VPs and Directors and Medical leaders. Interacts routinely with colleagues across Market Access and Public Affairs, and internal stakeholders from Marketing, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Finance, Commercial, Field Sales, and other relevant departments. Essential Functions
Helps inform, and executes on, overarching strategy for Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid channels, ensuring cross-functional support for strategic direction, in order to achieve short-term and long-term business objectives
Monitors evolving US market access environment to identify payer landscape trends and policy changes including but not limited to changes in healthcare policy, government healthcare programs, managed care, payment models, comparative effectiveness, customer engagement, and coverage and reimbursement
Drives development of the long-term market access outlook and strategy with strong focus on pipeline products across the Novo Nordisk portfolio across all channels
Responsible for gathering and interpreting pricing and member enrollment data to solve problems and communicate findings, including the use of statistical tools to identify patterns/trends in data. This will involve the use of tools such as Microsoft Excel and Tableau for the development of data tables and visualizations, as well as the ability to work with complex pricing models
Ensures close collaboration with MAPA, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Marketing, Finance, and Field Sales to identify business needs and gaps, and develop training plans and solutions
Supports channel leads to ensure all MAPA and Field teams are equipped with the right tools, resources, programs and information
Owns updates and maintenance of landscape documents that provide an overview of channel landscape/key trends and educates the organization
Provides project management support across various special projects and initiatives
Leads promotional reviews across channels and point of contact lead for agency management
Supports channel leads to ensure access strategies are aligned with Marketing regarding portfolio/brand segment positioning and messaging, and with NNI and Novo Nordisk’s long-term goals
Supports development and implementation of key metrics to measure channel success. Performs/assists in organizing primary and secondary research, for example in the targeting and validation process
Adheres to administrative policies and procedures and encourages others to do the same
Contributes to practices that attract and retain the best people
Physical Requirements
5-15% overnight travel required.
Qualifications
A Bachelor 's Degree required, PharmD and/or MBA preferred
A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in any of the following areas: management consulting, healthcare payer or PBM, pharmaceutical market access strategy, channel strategy, market insights, analytics, pricing, contracting, managed markets OR a minimum of four (4) years of pharmaceutical market access, healthcare payer/PBM, and/or consulting experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for degree, when appropriate
Strong understanding of the US payer environment, payer market dynamics, payer marketing principles and how market access organizations make decisions across private & public channels
Strong ability to collect, organize, analyze, and report data, especially as it relates to pricing and government channels
Have strong interpersonal; communication; analytical and project management skills
Ability to translate strategies into measurable tactical programs that have high ROI
Requires leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate a vision and engage people in that vision
Ability to access and influence various functional areas and motivate groups to action without direct line management responsibility
