Senior Optical & Transport Engineer:This is a hybrid role 2 days a week in Whippany, NJContract to hire.Experience and duties:

Performs optical DWDM network designs, operationalize designs for implementation for 10G/100G/400G transport services for internal consumption as well as for Metro Connect service offerings
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting OTN/DWDM/ROADM/Ethernet Transport environments.
Experience with Ciena 6500 product line and related Ciena products.
Experience and demonstrated knowledge of colocations and/or third-party data centers.
5-8 years of experience in optical DWDM/ROADM transport network design and optimization.
Perform lab work, hardware and software certifications.
Enterprise experience with optical transmission test equipment including Optical Spectrum Analyzers, Bit Error Rate test sets, optical power meters, and high-speed scopes.
Strong technical aptitude in optical engineering theory, principles, and practice.
Strong knowledge and experience with Metro & WAN Network Architecture and Transport Protocols.
Understanding of SONET/SDH, ATM, GbE, ADM, TL1 commands, and other Switching/transport concepts.
- DWDM infrastructure (Ciena based shop)
- No one internally, they have some knowledge internally, but ultimately no knowledge
- Infra is all there, but need to upgrade it and bring this all in house
