Staff Accountant

Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team in the non-profit sector, situated in Jersey City, New Jersey. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and will involve a variety of accounting tasks, including the preparation of financial statements, reconciliation of accounts, and project accounting. Responsibilities: Reconciling accounts payable and accounts receivable to the general ledger Creating balance sheets and preparing financial statements Completing bank reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner Administering fiscal year/end close procedures and tasks Handling grant accounting and project accounting tasks diligently Creating and maintaining spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting Ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements Assisting in the development of budgets and financial forecasts Participating in the ongoing improvement and streamlining of accounting procedures Collaborating with other team members to support overall department goals and objectives. Requirements Holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field Has prior experience in non-profit fund accounting Displays proficiency in using accounting software Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills Shows a strong understanding of financial reporting and data analysis Has the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Exhibits excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Proven track record in meeting deadlines Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of sensitive information Has a deep understanding of federal, state, and local laws regarding company operations and accounting practices Shows a commitment to the non-profit sector and its unique financial needs.
