Job Description

Position Summary:

The Systems Engineer, Senior is part of a new team (SE) that is responsible for much of the migration management process as part of the Software Process Improvement project. The primary objective is to ensure that newly developed software is delivered to business units across ETS in a timely manner. The Senior Systems Engineer provides guidance and technical decision making expertise to the SE team for on-going distribution, implementation and support for these applications.

Experience and Skills

Responsibilities:

Participate in the development of Systems Engineering departmental architecture, standards and guidelines

Plan, coordinate and execute newly proposed as well as on going departmental processes and projects

Diagnose, report, solve and document and/or escalate technical problems

Investigate critical technical challenges pertaining to new and established projects

Participate in the project planning process and provide innovative recommendations for process improvements

Assume responsibility for delivery of applications in a timely manner to the appropriate department or business unit

Conduct follow-up and documentation procedures to capture user experience

Participate in strategic planning activities

Facilitate peer leadership activities and collaborate with Leads and lower level development staff to ensure that all products conform to ETS standards

Continuously identify process risks or gaps and offer solutions to address these problems

Ensure that environments across ETS are ready for applications, have correct software and hardware and that all system components are at the anticipated versions

Deploy applications to target environments

Ensure that management of technologies is consistent with established architectural standards

Maintain 'as-built' design documentation for all ETS technologies in use

Participate in the integration of applications

Implement database changes in a timely manner through coordination with the DBA team

Accurately document deficiencies and formulate recommendations to productively resolve any outstanding issues

Mainain knowledge of relevant industry developments and trends and share knowledge with team members

Provide technical expertise on SE systems, processes, products and services

Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to your job function

Education, Certifications, or Special Licenses:

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Relevant Years of Experience Required:

4-7 years of progressively responsible experienceas a Systems Engineer an IT environment for mid to large sized organization

Other Requirements (Specialized skill sets, behavioral/technical):

Demonstrated competency pertaining to hardware and software functionality and performance

Indepth technical expertise and knowledge of specialty

Ability to work independently

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Extensive understanding of ETS's goals, objectives and operating systems
