Systems Engineer

Job SummaryThe Systems Engineer will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, supporting, developing and designing systems and networks devices throughout company. This will ensure the integrity of high availability, secure network infrastructure and provide maximum performance to users.

Essential Functions
  • Establish the systems environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting and enforcing system standards.
  • Maximize systems performance troubleshoot systems problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborate with business owners
  • Monitor, track and remediate system and application issues
  • Oversee storage capacity management and on prem and hosted systems and applications
  • Handle backup and recovery products such as Dell EMC Avamar, Data Domain, Symantec Backup and Recovery
  • Manager.
  • Deploy and manage VMware VDI environment with 500+ VDI desktops, troubleshoot VMware ESXi environment using vCenter/ESXi logs from vCenter UI as well as using esxcli or PowerShell.
  • Coordinate and collaborate in global IT environment
  • Storage Technologies, Dell EMC SAN Products such as XtremIO, VNXe, VNX, Unity.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Performs other functions as required or assigned.
  • Complies with all company policies and standards.

Education
  • Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science with 5 years of advanced systems engineering experience - Required
  • Associates Degree with 7 years of advanced system engineering experience - Preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED with 9 years of advanced system engineering experience - Preferred

Work Experience
  • 5 years of demonstrated knowledge of advanced systems engineering practices with a BS/BA (7years with an AA, OR 9 years with a GED) - Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Proven ability to define and develop solutions based on business requirements. - Advanced
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure - Advanced
  • Ability to communicate in an understandable and professional manner, both written and verbal. - Advanced
  • Documenting the configuration, upgrades, procedures, incident and problem resolution associated with network hardware/software and operating systems, etc. - Advanced
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to operate in a fast paced environment that at times requires a rapid response to high profile system outages. - Advanced
  • Excellent time management, great communication skills. - Advanced

Specialized Knowledge
  • Knowledge and in-depth understanding of VMware monitoring tools such as vRealize operation manager
  • Experience of day to day management of vSphere products, including datastores, standard switches, distributed switches, port groups, VM hardware, VMware tools, ESXi drivers, host maintenance, DRS, HA, patching, monitoring and management.
  • Experience in troubleshooting VMware ESXi environment using vCenter/ESXi logs from vCenter UI as well as using esxcli or
  • PowerShell.
  • Knowledge of server and desktop virtualization technologies including experience with VMWare horizon view with vRealize operation manager.
  • Knowledge and Experience in Storage Technologies, Dell EMC SAN Products such as XtremIO VNXe, VNX, Unity
  • Knowledge and Experience with backup and recovery products such as Dell EMC Avamar, Data Domain, Symantec Backup and
  • Recovery Manager
  • Knowledge and understanding of Hyper-converge platforms such as Dell EMC VxRail
  • Knowledge and Experience in Disaster Recovery tools such as VMware SRM, Recover Points, Replication, DR RPO and RTO Calculation
  • Experience with Backup and Recovery products of EMC Avamar, Data Domain.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and testing, auditing, risk analysis, and business continuity planning

Licenses and Certifications
  • Microsoft, VMware or EMC certification a plus - Preferred
