SUMMARY:  The Financial Analyst prepares financial and business related analyses and research in such areas as financial and expense performance, rate of return, depreciation, working capital and investments. The individual prepares forecasts and analyzes trends in manufacturing, sales, finance, general business conditions and other related areas and utilizing PC and/or mainframe based systems and software, compiles and prepares reports, graphs and charts of data. REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES:  Activities and duties will vary dependent upon functional area assigned.  Activities may include, but are not limited to:Support and assist in the close process.  Complete analysis, prepare journal entries and analyze information for accuracy and completeness.  Input into the system.Research and provide financial and business related analyses to assess the impact of various corporate projects and transactions.Conduct analyses and research in such areas as financial and expense performance, rate of return, depreciation, working capital and investment. Support and assist in the AOP process.  Coordinate preparation of cost center budgets.  Input data into planning systems.Provide financial analysis and support in the AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) process and the strategic plan.Prepare forecasts and analyze trends in manufacturing, sales, finance, general business conditions and other related areas.For assigned projects; prepare detail of work plan and schedule, complete detailed analysis and research, identify options, prepare reports for management and recommend action or change.Assist in preparing economic/financial research and analysis for use in the development of business strategies and tactics.  Quantify the financial impact of the opportunity or issue involved, including likely returns on investments or payback period for proposed capital expenditures, new products, or other investments.Provide assistance to departments in the formulation of their budgets.  Review departmental actual expenses versus budget.  Issue monthly variance statements.Follow policies and procedures as per the Financial Policy Manual.  Assist in the development of business policies and performance measures.Support global operations on an as-needed basis.Look for opportunities to improve the process effectiveness and improvements.Business/Financial Analyst Representative Activities:   Incumbent may serve as a Business/Financial Analyst; however, will have the same Job Title as a Financial Analyst.Serve as primary liaison to a business unit to ensure their financial accounting needs are met.  Act as a focal point for interpretation of accounting policies and procedures.Responsible for project management and administration, including determining the direction of the project as well as how implementation of the project will occur.Prepare and analyze month-end and variance reports.  Ensure accurate and timely reporting and analysis of financial data.Review general ledger reports to ensure correct accounts are classified.  Participate in earnings estimates and support month-end close process.Review profit and loss report within assigned area.Provide accounting expertise to business units when special projects arise.  Present accounting information to senior management.Assist business unit with chart of accounts and cost center hierarchy issues.Research and provide financial and business related analyses to assess the impact of transactions.Prepare detail of work plan and schedule, complete detailed analysis and research, identify options, prepare reports for business unit managers and recommend action or change.Develop cost allocations.  Track capitalized salaries. Prepare forecasts and analyze trends.Involved with special projects as needed.
