Looking for Home Aide/Caregiver - starting at $50k+ plus Housing

Hi! I’m looking for a live-in senior care provider in Angel Fire, NM with experience in dealing with mild dementia. This for my 78 year old father. He is currently in an assisted living facility in Albuquerque, but is miserable and wants to be in the mountains.

My dad is pretty capable, can bathe and dress himself, eat, go to the bathroom, etc. but does need some prompting to shower, change clothes, take meds, etc. His strength is good and can walk slowly, but should be using a walker.

He would need help with companionship and daily activities such as light housekeeping, meal prep, shopping, and transportation (eg 30min to Taos for Dr appts). Very basic dog care would also be needed. He loves to get outside and just check out nature.

This would be a live-in position without close local help. I think the ideal approach would be for two people to manage the care (eg a mother and daughter) so everyone has a break, but we are open to other arrangements.

Aside from excellent caregiver skills, kindness, and patience, the most important quality is reliability. Without close local help, this is a missional critical position and we are reliant on you.

You must be certified to manage and give insulin daily and must be able to pass a background check. Nursing experience strongly preferred.

The salary is generous starting at $50k or more, depending on experience. Your housing would be covered. Your own car is preferred, but that is also negotiable. The house is a beautiful mountain home with deer and other wildlife walking through the property daily.

My dad is a great, super interesting funny guy that always despised the idea of being ‘in a home.’ It is brutal to see him there and how unhappy he is. All he wants is to live in the mountains with his dog and I’m trying everything I can to make that happen.
