What You Will DoOccupational Health as an organization promotes worker health and wellbeing at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The organization is seeking a reliable, self-motivated undergraduate student to provide support to the Occupational Health nursing staff. The successful candidate will have a customer-focused approach to clinic responsibilities and work cooperatively with staff in a very dynamic and diverse environment. The student will report to the Occupational Health Group Leader for Medical Services.

The internship will provide an opportunity to develop skills in areas of clinic nursing evaluations, interpersonal relationships, and computer applications to meet the demands and responsibilities of today's workforce. The successful candidate will learn operations skills for a wide variety of clinic-related activities, including but not limited to:

Interacting frequently with customers both internal and external to Occupational Health

Learning nursing skills related to clinic triage, immunizations, return to work evaluations, and workplace injuries/illnesses.

Prioritizing tasks and carrying out job responsibilities with minimal supervision

Demonstrating initiative, tact, and discretion with HIPAA (protection of medical and personal Health information) and sensitive information.

Developing computer skills in Cority (electronic health record), MS office suite (word, excel, powerpoint), Outlook and Labwide systems.

What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:

Basic and/or introductory knowledge of anatomy and physiology

Basic and/or introductory knowledge of computer use

Excellent customer service skills

Ability to effectively work in a team environment

Training/Certifications: Current certifications in basic life support (BLS) and HIPAA - both will be provided upon hireEducation/Experience: Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in a health-related field, with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM.
