Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity at Etsy to have widespread impact on the Product and Engineering teams at Etsy, where our marketplace has evolved for the millions of our buyers and sellers visiting it daily!

Focus on strengthening our team of Program Managers to deliver important and urgent projects and programs further the objectives of the Product and Engineering Org! You will specifically be managing a team that work across Etsy’s buyer/seller facing initiatives!

Our team operates in PSS, embedded in the org of our CPO and CTO. This team is fluid by design, it flows from priority to priority, contained to either buyer, seller or internal initiatives.

The Sr Manager is responsible for setting and leading all aspects of the standards for Program Management. Ensuring that the responsibilities performed by each program manager are consistent, that their work has high impact, and that other roles in our org are empowered by the presence of this team.

In this role you will:

  • Analyze projects/programs to understand if they are driving impact and moving at a steady pace
  • Triage and prioritize potential projects and/or programs to be undertaken by the team
  • Proactively communicate the progress and impact of the program portfolio to senior leadership and recommend where impact could be increased
  • Proactively identify gaps in how the Program Managers operate within their programs, inclusive of helping set common principles, behaviors, and tools for them to help them be nimble, creative, and resourceful
  • Perform people management responsibilities for your team, which includes collecting and sharing feedback regularly, annual performance management and team bonding
  • Project and/or Program management responsibilities alongside people management duties to continue to stay close to your craft.
  • Partner with the Strategic Program Management team to accelerate the specific contributions of Product and Eng to Etsy’s company-level XFN and strategic programs

Qualifications

About You

  • 10+ years of proven success in technical project management. At least 5 of which include hands-on experience as part of Scrum or Kanban software development team.
  • A continuous learner who is passionate about the work. Digging deeper to understand root causes. Adapting easily to a continuously evolving environment.
  • Take initiative. Demonstrate a presence at the leadership level. Lead in a way that accepts responsibility without presuming authority. Model confidence, transparency, and humility.
  • Establish an optimistic and collaborative culture across all levels. Value diversity and promote an inclusive and blameless environment.
  • An expert communicator with demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to quickly distill core issues into succinct and tailored messages for audiences across all management levels.
  • Technically strong. Have a deep understanding of and experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
