Description We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Analyst to join our finance team at a growing and reputable construction company. The Accounting Analyst will play a key role in supporting the accounting department with financial reporting, analysis, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. This individual will work closely with project managers and senior leadership to analyze financial performance, support budgeting and forecasting efforts, and assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports.Financial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards. Prepare ad hoc financial reports as required by senior management.
Project Cost Analysis:
Monitor and track project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses. Provide variance analysis to identify cost overruns or savings and report on project financial status.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the development of annual budgets and project forecasts. Work closely with project managers to update cost projections and ensure that financial targets are met.
Accounts Reconciliation:
Reconcile general ledger accounts, including job costing and project-specific accounts, ensuring accuracy and proper allocation of costs. Resolve discrepancies and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
Accounts Payable and Receivable Support:
Provide support for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including reviewing contractor invoices, vendor statements, and ensuring timely processing and payment of bills. Help track customer payments and outstanding receivables.
Contract Management:
Review and analyze construction contracts to ensure proper accounting treatment of contract costs, revenue recognition, and billing schedules. Work with project managers to ensure contract terms are being adhered to from a financial perspective.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements. Assist with internal and external audits, providing documentation and data as requested.
Cost Forecasting & Job Costing:
Assist with job costing reports and provide financial insights on project profitability. Collaborate with project teams to ensure that costs are captured accurately and forecasted effectively.
Cash Flow Management:
Help monitor cash flow related to ongoing projects, ensuring that funds are allocated appropriately to cover project expenses. Assist with managing cash flow projections to ensure the company has adequate liquidity for operations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the construction or real estate industry. Familiarity with construction accounting principles, including job costing and contract management, is highly preferred.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300, Procore, or similar construction accounting systems).
Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to interact effectively with project managers, contractors, vendors, and senior management. Capable of explaining financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
Other accounting certifications are a plus.
