Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Cheektowaga, New York. This role is critical in our finance department, where you will be responsible for reviewing and processing invoices, validating company and G/L account code allocations, and communicating with vendors and departments. You will also ensure all disbursement policies, procedures, and internal controls are functioning within all departments. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Review all invoices and align them with appropriate documentation. Calculate and verify amounts such as discounts and percentages. Validate proper company and G/L account code allocations. Communicate with vendors and departments regarding questions or information needs. Enter and/or review invoices in document management software. Verify that all invoices include approval within purchasing guidelines. Process payment batches, verifying appropriate invoice and posting date, and create A/P checks. Ensure all disbursement policies, procedures, internal controls are understood and functioning within all departments. Maintain accuracy and completeness of vendor files. Prepare monthly accruals.Skills: Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems, Great Plains (GPAC), IBM AS/400, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Microsoft Excel. Understanding of Accounting Functions and Accounts Payable (AP). Experience in Check Processing and Data Entry. Ability to handle Discrepancies.
