A NYS agency located in New York, NY is looking for an API Engineer for a 12 month contract.

Please note that this position may initially allow for work to be performed remotely. However, consultant will be required to work on-site/in-office once COVID restrictions are lifted.

To be considered for this position, the client has advised that upon placement, consultants will be required to wear a mask under certain circumstances, show proof of full vaccination or submit on a weekly basis proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR diagnostic test.

Requirements and skills

  • 4-6 years working as a professional software engineer.
  • Experience with React Native required.
  • Experience with either iOS native language (Swift) or Android (Java) required.
  • Experience working in a Gitlab/Github based dev-ops environments.
  • Contributions to open source projects and products a plus.
  • Experience with all parts of the app release cycle. We are a small team so you'll need to wear a lot of hats.
  • Experience with (and enthusiasm for!) agile development.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and track work via a system like JIRA, Trello, or Basecamp Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Translate the UI/UX design wireframes to high-quality code and technical implementations that will produce visual elements
  • Write code and unit tests, working with API specs and automation
  • Optimize components for maximum performance
  • Participate in all aspects of the agile software development lifecycle.
  • Remediate production issues, defects, and bugs.
  • Author and update functional requirements and technical design documentation.
  • Contribute to and help maintain our pattern library.
  • Update stakeholders via code check-ins and posting via project management tools.
