Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an Application Support Analyst for a Contract assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in New York, NY. Responsibilities :

  • Candidate will work with developers and business areas to deploy, maintain, and configure custom applications and/or complex system environments, AWS cloud environment, and on on-prem environment.
  • Provide technical solutions to automate processes or functions to improve business operations
  • Develop corresponding operations and support procedures and documentation for application operations
  • Continually monitor and fine tune application infrastructure to assure optimal performance, availability and utilization of resources
  • Develop and continually refine restore or recovery procedures for errors impacting application operations
  • Support and provide insight into contingency planning initiatives
  • Design and develop scripts to automate operational tasks and maintenance
  • Report to managers and supervisors, advising performance as related to application operations and escalate issues per policy to higher tier support resources and management as necessary
  • Work directly with customers on issues
  • Administer and enforce IT standards and processes
  • Provide off-hours support rotational weekly call schedule with 7x24 responsibilities - shift work is also possible based on demand
  • Provide support during scheduled contingency test.
Required Skills :
  • Bachelor's degree in business or IT related field or equivalent work experience
  • Expert level knowledge of Data Center Administration and architectures (Network, OS installations & lifecycle management, backup/recover, power management, racking/stacking of servers etc.)
  • Hybrid infrastructure experience managing both on-prem and cloud environments
  • System Administration experience managing Unix/Linux, Windows environments
  • Middleware administration experience (WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, etc)
  • Working experience in setting up cloud and on-prem data center environments Middleware technologies (WebSphere,JBoss,Tomcat)
  • Working experience with database technologies (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL)
  • Strong hands on experience with Unix/Linux and Windows server setup and administration
  • Strong hands on experience with cloud infrastructure preferably AWS.
  • Knowledge of scripting (Python, Powershell, Unix Shell Scripting,puppet,ansible etc.)
  • Good understanding of application, middleware and database interactions and their connectivity in mixed environments of on-premise and Cloud (SaaS)
  • Good understanding of application, middleware and database interactions and connectivity
  • Good understanding of data center skills (design & implementation of servers, network, power, etc).
  • Experience supporting Web servers and applications (Tomcat, JBoss etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Python scripting and/or PowerShell, Unix Shell Scripting, Ansible, puppet
  • Working experience of supporting AWS and/or Azure cloud infrastructure
  • Knowledge of identity and access management with AD/ADFS, IDaaS solutions.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL process and IT Service management (ITSM) with Remedy and ServiceNow.
  • Ability to continually triage assignments, manage conflicting priorities and accept changing deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure, responding to critical requests calmly and efficiently
  • Discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information
  • Familiarity of Application programming languages and Web technologies
  • Working knowledge of Splunk
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Change Management standards
  • Experience working with container technologies (e.g. Docker)
