Description As the Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for identifying issues and delivering solutions. You will keep the Controller up to date on the accounting staff as the Assistant Controller. This permanent employment opportunity is based in the Buffalo, New York area. Provide assistance to the accounting team during the closing process to make certain deadlines are met
Mark and expand process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency
Arrange numerous policies, procedures, and technical accounting analyses
Confirm regular account reconciliation to completion
Extra assignments if necessary
Promote to ensure a competent, trained staff through regular assessment, development, and goal setting
Review and establish Ad Hoc financial reports
Construct relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics like actual spend against budgets/outlook, the monthly flash report, and key financial metrics
Boost accountability and the meeting of deliverables
Assist implementation and assure adherence to accounting policies and procedures
Enhanced preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits
Be instrumental in the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting
Backfill for Controller when appropriate Requirements - Comprehensive knowledge of month end closings
Expertise in financial reporting
Certified Public Accounting license or exams in progress
Ability to multitask efficiently and prioritize work
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IIA standards
Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills
Notable accounting experience, including as a Bookkeeper preferred
5+ years of general ledger accounting experience
Profound knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
