Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Assistant Controller in New York, NY. This role operates within the finance industry and involves strategic oversight of accounting functions, preparation of financial reports, and management of endowment funds, among other responsibilities. The workplace is dynamic and requires proficiency in various accounting software systems and ERP solutions. Responsibilities: Prepare and review fiscal year-end financial statements and related schedules Oversee accounting for the endowment and other component units of the organization, including student housing corporation Maintain knowledge of changes in law or regulations pertaining to the administration of funds Manage cash activities, including day-to-day cash management and monthly cash/investment reporting Develop and revise policies and procedures as necessary Continuously assess internal controls related to business functions and collaborate with internal auditors Coordinate efforts between the Foundation Office and the Accounting office Prepare informative reports for executive management and trustees Demonstrate knowledge of GAAP, GASB, FASB, auditing, fixed asset accounting, and tax filing requirements Serve as the primary contact and liaison with outside auditors. Requirements Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services Knowledge of ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions Experience with Great Plains (GPAC) software Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Proficiency in Auditing Familiarity with Budget Processes Understanding of Audit Methodology, Audit PBC lists, Audit Plans, Audit Prep, Audit Reports, Audit Program, Audit Requests, Audit Reviews, Audit Schedules, Audit Standards, Audit Techniques, Audit Tests, and Audit Workpapers Experience in preparing Audited Financial Statements Knowledge of GASB and FASB - Financial Accounting Standards Board Experience in Educational Institutions is a plus Proficiency in Account Analysis Experience in managing Check Runs and Checklists.
