About this role

Your Team

We have a great opportunity to join our New York office as an Associate in our Investment Innovation team.

The Investment Innovation team sits within Blackrock's ETF and Index Investment (EII) Chief Investment Office (CIO) group. The team is focused on designing original solutions to facilitate improved investment management decision making on BlackRock's Index Equity portfolios (1700+ products with an AUM greater than 5 trillion USD).

Your Role and Impact

You'll be responsible for architecting and developing these solutions within BlackRock's infrastructure, building partnerships with investment and technical professionals across the organization. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference as both Students of the Market as well as Students of Technology!

Your Responsibilities

  • Building a solid understanding of the fundamentals of Index Equity Portfolio Management (such corporate actions and rebalances) and investing (trading)
  • Partnering and influencing global investment teams, understanding challenges within the investment decision making process and identification of technology solutions
  • Designing and developing these solutions within BlackRock's technology infrastructure and governance protocols
  • Implementing visualizations of sophisticated analytics for complex index equity investment management strategies
  • Researching modern technologies and presenting proposed solutions to senior stakeholders
  • Contributing positively to our culture and supporting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)

You Have

We're looking for individuals from a variety of backgrounds with the following skills/qualifications:

  • Minimum 2+ years of work experience in a Financial, FinTech or Software company
  • Bachelors degree (or above) in a quantitative subject such as Computing or Finance
  • Required experience in Python and SQL.
  • Additional experience using Machine learning (NLP and Deep Learning), visualization software (e.g. Tableau or Power BI) and version control systems (e.g. Azure or Git) in a professional setting would be benefit
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of Equity investing (including ETFs)
  • Ability to convey technical information effectively to a senior audience (both written and verbal)
  • A desire to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Prior experience in any of the following fields is desirable: Data Engineer, Data Scientist, Quant Analyst, Portfolio Analyst, Data Visualization Developer, Index Analyst, Portfolio Manager, Financial Modeler or Operations Analyst.
