What We Do

Team Overview Global Custody & Cash Services (GCCS) is 450 strong Technology department that provides software development of the applications that drive BNY Mellon-s Custody service offerings as part of our Asset Servicing business (nearly three quarters of our revenue). This role is part of the GCCS Portfolio & Resource Management group which has oversight of the program management, project management, business analysis and user experience staff that support our application development efforts.

Role Overview The Business Systems Analyst role converts the intentions of our client, operations and business partners into specifications used by our software developers to deliver code using both traditional and Agile methodologies.

Role-Specific Responsibilities
  • Support custody and cash business domains representing all areas of Global Custody and Cash Technology.
  • Work with internal (and external, as needed) clients to

    translate business requirements into developer usable functional specifications within the framework of the Custody Modernization effort.
  • End to end responsibility for planning, managing and delivering projects,

    including business specifications, functional specifications, technology builds, testing (functional, user and client), training and communication, organizational readiness, client migration planning and execution
  • Establish and manage relationships with project sponsors, stakeholders and participants from Product, Technology, Operations, Client Service, and partner organizations members to identify areas for technical and operational improvement
  • Follow-up on outstanding action points raised during project meetings and ensure the coordination of projects throughout their life-cycle including

    gathering requirements, working on the implementation schedule and organizing testing pre-release.
  • Develop and support project plans through strategy development, project definition, and implementation, particularly for the adoption of any user tools
  • Write and gain sign-off on business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories ensuring that any proposed solution has been syndicated with the relevant parties prior to implementation
  • Contribute to scope planning to go-live based on Agile methodology including ABC phase planning, backlog grooming, stories definition and sprint/iteration planning including stakeholder and executive stakeholder meeting for status and actions.
  • Identify opportunities to automate workflow.
  • Review industry best practice for workflow.

Standard Job Responsibilities
  • Determines technical/non-functional requirements, solves problems and technical challenges; designs new software solutions and/or installs vendor products. Constructs workflow charts, architectural/integration diagrams and technical specification documentation. Identifies areas of improvement and works to determine, document and execute on solutions including data retention, integration, system rationalisation or decommissioning. Validates solutions by testing results, works individually or as part of a team.
  • Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology.
  • Ensure testing, implementation and documentation of solution. Ensures that expected application performance levels are achieved.
  • Ensures data retention policies are adhered to.
  • Ensures permit to design, build and operate gates are appropriately met.
  • Provides input into project plans and oversees technical deliverables. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and software components.
  • Conducts analysis of technical/non-functional needs and goals for the development and implementation of application solutions.
  • Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions.

Qualifications MODIFIED BASED UPON LOCAL REGULATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Six to eight (6-8) years of experience in software development is required.
  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the Custody environment of the Financial Services industry.
  • Product and change management experience.
  • Strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Working knowledge of Visio and SharePoint is desired.
  • Experience with the Blueprint business analysis tool is a plus.
  • Experience in process flow analysis/mapping.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Delivery and ownership focused work style.
  • Ability to analyze business models/practices and identify innovative solutions.
  • Confidence to interface with all levels in the organization from senior management to process participants.
