job detailsjob summary:A Buyer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Fairport, NY area. The role involves managing the supply chain for materials, equipment, and services, ensuring cost-effective, high-quality deliveries, developing and negotiating supplier contracts, and supporting process improvements and compliance across global operations.location: Fairport, New Yorkjob type: Contractsalary: $25.84 - 28.73 per hourwork hours: 8am to 4pmeducation: Bachelorsresponsibilities:
Assure supply of materials, equipment, and services on time, at the best price, with high quality, and competitive costs.
Develop and deploy Global Supply Management (GSM) strategy aligned with organizational objectives and sourcing plans.
Monitor contribution metrics and link them to the cost reduction portfolio.
Negotiate with suppliers and manage contracts, including supplier relationship management and audits.
Create and maintain contractual documents such as Supply Agreements, Pricing Agreements, NDAs, and Certificates of Insurance.
Assist with commodity reviews and supply intelligence to enhance sourcing strategies.
Manage inventory by organizing and minimizing materials, reducing slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
Serve as a liaison between plants, materials, and quality areas, ensuring smooth supply chain operations.
Desired Skills:
Experience as a plant or corporate buyer.
Experience using SAP.
Experience with GSM processes and systems.
Experience working in a matrix environment or on a cross-functional team.
Yellow or Green Belt Certification.
Experience in manufacturing - operations, planning, quality, engineering, supply chain.
Experience across multiple businesses, division and/or technologies.
Education: Bachelor's Degree. (Technical field preferred, but not required)qualifications:
