Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.Scope of Position: Responsible for execution of tactical procurement responsibilities to including but not limited to requisition entry, purchase order placement from system generated buy signals, filing PO acknowledgements after comparing to purchase order quantity and due date, maintaining PO line due dates in the ERP system, tracking and expediting shipments, responding to inquiries from both commercial and customers service representatives, support process improvement initiatives, and overall support of departmental and divisional objectives.Day to Day Responsibilities:

Champions and ensures compliance with the Global Buying Policy (GBP) along with utilization of standard Global Supply Management (GSM) source-to-pay (S2P) processes and tools

Promotes and proliferates appropriate utilization of buying channels and procurement tools (p-cards; e-catalogs, requisitions, and purchase orders, etc.)

PO date management: - Works with supplier to expedite, defer, or cancel POs as recommended by the system. - Communicates with vendor to ensure current delivery dates in system reflect reality with an emphasis on avoiding overdue Purchase Orders

Distributes Supplier Forecast Reports to assigned suppliers monthly

Review and seek reduction of costs, lead times and minimum order quantities with suppliers as assigned

Maintains target safety stock and run-out views for assigned items

Maintain master and transactional data for assigned items.

Communicate and develop action strategies with input from key stakeholders during supply shortages

Leverage relationship with vendors and knowledge to suggest changes that will save money

Works closely with requisitioners, suppliers, receiving, and Corning Shared Services (CSS) to resolve invoice issues and identify root cause and corrective action

Responsible for all Vendor Add/Change/Maintenance requirements. Protects Intellectual Property (IP) and proprietary information

Supports leadership and/or GSM requests for data analysis, metrics reporting, purchasing information

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel required (less than 10%)Hours of Work: Regular office hours (Monday - Friday); 40+ hours per weekRequired Education: Minimum 2-year AAS degree in supply chain, business, or related fields OR 5+ years in a buyer/planner role in manufacturingRequired Years and Area of Experience:

2-5 years relevant work experience

Experience with procurement processes and systems

ERP experience (Peoplesoft and SAP preferred)

Required Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Ability to collect and analyze data

Effective communicator both oral and written

Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize to complete day-to-day responsibilities

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.The range for this position is $57,228.00 - $78,689.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
