Job Description:

ROLE SUMMARY: The Cloud and Storage Engineer position will help lead the technology development and deployment functions across the cloud, server, storage and distributed technology area(s). This technology leader needs to be well versed in all aspect of deploying technology compute both within owned data centers and cloud environments with an emphasis on building resilient and scalable solutions for one of the worlds most recognized brands. In addition, it will be expected that the engineering functions plays a leading role in transitioning technology to operations and maintains responsibility for level three support in crisis situations. He/she should have experience working with automation tool sets such as CHEF, PowerShell, Puppet and scripting languages. Integration experience with ServiceNow in the development of infrastructure service catalogs is a critical skill as our infrastructure philosophy is to lead with a cloud first, hyper-converged mindset in a fully automated environment. Furthermore, this technical evangelist should have experience working with the major OEMs such as DellEMC, Hitachi, HPe and Nutanix but more importantly software defined server and storage technologies such as Cloudian, Qumulo, VMware, Teradici and others. Finally, expertise with AWS and Azure cloud capabilities is a must.

Specific Functions/Activities SUMMARY:
  • Responsible for the implementation and on-going development of all infrastructure compute and storage environments including hybrid hyper-converged solutions.
  • Responsible for the implementation and on-going development of all backups and job scheduling utilizing Rubrik Technologies.
  • Build the operational process and tools to ensure that all infrastructure investments are moved into production properly, the operations teams know how to support them and that the appropriate tools are in place to monitor performance and availability.
  • Responsible for Inventory management and release management planning for all systems – designs the testing procedures for new releases and working with third party vendors to ensure the readiness of new releases.
  • Responsible for the lifecycle management of the compute and storage platforms – works with the OEMs and service providers to ensure that all MSG solutions are technically relevant, technical currency is maintained and that appropriate lifecycle approaches are applied.
  • Responsible for Level 3 support of all technical issues – engages with the technical support teams, third party suppliers and OEMs to ensure that all issues are resolved promptly and within pre-defined SLAs.
  • Owns the technical relationship with assigned vendors and partners – drives the mentality of continuous improvement into the support and delivery processes with a metrics and measurement mindset.
  • Partners proactively with the technology teams and business to understand new needs and issues – plans for the implementation of requests and enhancements consist with new business requests.
  • Works with the cloud Architect to market thought leader whom stays ahead of new market trends – integrates all cloud, compute and storage platforms into the defined technical strategy and stays ahead of the technology curve.
  • Plays the role of cloud infrastructure subject matter expert and defines the path to continue to shift assets into AWS, Azure and other cloud platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 4-6 years of experience supporting diverse compute and storage environments, inclusive but not limited to Qumulo, Dell/EMC, Dell/EMC Isilon and Nutanix
  • 4-6 years’ experience working with service providers within the infrastructure hardware and software space – understands how to implement and enforce SLAs and other metrics.
  • 4-7 years’ experience working with Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Office365 tools and platforms.
  • At least 3-5 years of networking experience is highly desired.
  • 5+ years of scalable and distributed storage experience – has evolved past building environments and builds storage eco-systems.
  • 5+ years of infrastructure hyper-converged experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree high preferred
  • AWS & Azure certifications highly preferred
  • Knowledge of Storage in a broadcast/ Video function highly preferred

SUPERVISION:
  • Position is that of an individual contributor but may be asked to lead matrixed project teams and mentor team members in all things cloud from and engineering and operational aspect.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
  • Candidate selected will have to travel several times throughout the year to other business locations.
