Position Summary & ObjectiveMachinist II is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-precision components used in hydro turbines and complete turbine assemblies. This role involves interpreting engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tooling, and ensuring all parts meet strict quality and safety standards. The machinist monitors machine performance, makes necessary adjustments, and performs inspections to maintain accuracy and efficiency. Working closely with engineering and production teams, the CNC Machinist helps ensure reliable, high-quality turbine components are delivered on schedule.Essential Functions Performed by the Position  Proficient in blueprint reading and understanding of geometric tolerancingAble to make all but the most complex component set ups on large VBM’sAble to edit programs for VBM’sAble to make all but the most complex components set ups on large HBM’sKeep Supervisor informed of problems regarding work piece, schedule, safety, etc. as they ariseAble to edit programs for HBM’sCleans up sweepings of machine tool operation scrap and collects in scrap/trash binsAble to set up feeds, speeds and judge cutter/insert condition to optimize machining operation for meeting surface finish and productivityMeasurements:Quality of workProductivityJob KnowledgeInitiativeSafetyAttendance/dependabilityCommunicationCooperation
