Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM (Hybrid)

Mid Size Law Firm is seeking a talented and motivated Controller to lead its

billing team, oversee collections, manage financial reporting and be the firm’s resident expert on

its accounting and billing software.

Responsibilities

Master the Firm’s accounting and billing software (Tabs) to be the Firm resident expert.

Support and supervise the billing team in their processing of complex monthly bills for

assigned clients and/or practice group, as well as management of Firm’s overall collections

activities and allocation of receivables.

Prepare reports requested by management or clients

Lead the billing team as a coach and mentor while aligning with the Firm’s initiatives.

Monitor the status of billing activities with billing team and escalate issues as required.

Partner with Head of Office Administration in developing processes and procedures to

support all areas of the billing cycle.

Make recommendations to management on process improvements in all functions of billing

and ensure successful implementation.

Periodically review billing teams assignments ensuring all billing matters are resolved in a

timely manner.

Stay abreast of system upgrades and new software that can affect or improve billing.

Ability to effectively interact with all levels of attorneys and clients.

Responsible for directly supervising the billing team, actively participating/performing:

interviews, trainings, directing workflow, conduct performance evaluations, address and

resolving complaints, etc.

Drive and/or participate in financial projects as needed.

Requirements

Preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.

Minimum of seven years’ of billing experience and five years leading a billing team.

Advance knowledge of Tabs Management or other equivalent billing management system.

Advance MS excel spreadsheets (i.e. pivot tables, charts, formulas, graphs, etc.).

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to compile and analyze information in

different forums (i.e. excel, email or verbally).

Superb attention to detail, as well as multi-tasking skills.

Must be able to handle highly sensitive information and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Self-motivated, resourceful, adaptable, and capable of working independently as well as in a

team.
