Description Chris Preble from Robert Half is working with a Syracuse for profit client of his to find their next Controller. The Controller is a key leadership position responsible for managing the overall accounting operations of the company. This role oversees financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and compliance to ensure the integrity of financial information. The Controller plays a pivotal role in the development of financial strategies, implementing policies, and providing critical data analysis to guide the company’s financial decisions.Responsibilities include:Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all applicable regulations.
Provide detailed financial analysis and reports to executive leadership to support strategic decision-making.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Lead the annual budgeting process and collaborate with department heads to develop forecasts.
Monitor variances between budgeted and actual results, providing explanations and recommendations for improvements.
Accounting Operations:
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and tax preparation.
Ensure the timely and accurate reconciliation of all accounts.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
Maintain and enhance accounting policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
Ensure continuous improvement of processes and systems within the department.
Cash Flow Management:
Manage company cash flow, monitor liquidity, and ensure sufficient funds for operations.
Develop and maintain effective working capital strategies.
