Controls Engineer- Rochester, INJob Description:In this role, the Controls Engineer will be primarily responsible for maintaining and improving automotive manufacturing equipment. The majority of the job will involve diagnosing intermittent problems, assisting electricians in getting online, and performing traceability work. An example of a traceability project would be tracking down a bar code, learning the history of the part, and finding a solution. A typical day also includes specifying hardware, updating AutoCAD electrical drawings, and collaborating with the maintenance team.The Controls Engineer will also be assigned small project work, such as adding a barcode scanner to an existing line or integrating a blower into a robotic cell. Additional responsibilities are listed below:Job Responsibilities:
Designing and recommending control system architecture, products, components, and applications used in manufacturing processes; identifying and resolving system integration and interface issues.
Working with Fanuc, Allen Bradley and Siemens automation equipment; troubleshooting Fanuc robots.
Utilizing Hirschmann managed switches and Ethernet/IP topology.
Evaluating new and emerging manufacturing and control technologies, adapting specifications as appropriate.
Designing, developing, selecting components, evaluating, and installing machine controls hardware.
Confirming control system functionality, including appropriate safety compliance, by designing and/or executing test procedures.
Preparing and/or reviewing electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings; collaborating with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
Keeping equipment operational by performing periodic audits; troubleshooting breakdowns; requesting supplies; defining and reviewing preventive maintenance plans; calling for repairs; and implementing process improvements.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in controls engineering
Experience troubleshooting PLCs
Experience troubleshooting Fanuc robots
