Job Title: Director - Americas Head Tax Operations

Location: New York, NY or Jacksonville, FL

Type: Fulltime

Overview:This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of building and directing the overall strategy for the US Tax Operations Team. You will be responsible for leading a team of 30+ tax professionals across multiple global locations. You will define and execute strategic US withholding and information reporting across the Investment Bank, Corporate Bank, and International Private Banking divisions. You will drive synergies, best practices, efficiencies, and governance and control framework across the organization and partner closely with Group Tax and business partners. You will also manage key vendor and agency relationships and participate and engage in industry forums such as SIFMA

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and ensure accuracy of bank’s withholding and remittance obligations and submission of year-end 1099, 1042-S, 945, and 1042
  • Maintain governance and control framework with the Target Operating Model
  • Annual filing of IRS tax reporting extensions for select Bank entities and provide regulatory authorization and approval for all tax returns, and signatory authorization on behalf of Bank legal entities
  • Prepare responses to tax auditor inquiries and analyzes various tax laws, regulations and procedures
  • Support of audits with IRS, Internal Audit, and any other special audits related to Tax
  • Review and define requirements for new regulatory tax requirements and impact to the business, operational or technological change

Your Skills and Experience:
  • Tax information reporting, withholding and tax document management experience
  • Expert understanding of IRS Forms W-9 and W-8 and their associated requirements; Forms 1099 series, 1042-S; Forms 945 and 1042
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead small working groups to conclusion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to persuasively communicate complex issues at all levels of the organization and Tax Authorities
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a risk and compliance mindset and culture

How You’ll Lead:
  • Partner closely with Group Tax and Business Partners to address key risks, business requirements, and key controls across the enterprise organization
  • Manage vendor and agency relationships and engage in industry forums to drive synergies, best practices and efficiencies
  • Support IRS with audits and inquiries and the coordination of all yearend tax information for activities/products in scope and reporting of this information in accordance with IRS requirements
