Director of Network Architecture - Hybrid

Our direct client, a global transportation firm, is looking for someone to lead and accountable for evaluating existing network architectures and driving next generation solution development across technology platforms and production environments. Work closely with the IT leadership to identify, recommend, develop, and implement cost-effective network and technology solutions that meet current and future business needs.

• Responsible for defining, implementing, and enforcing network standards, design, best practices, and future state
• Recruit, retain, develop, and lead a team driving a comprehensive and contemporary global network architecture and strategy across the enterprise
• Provide short and long term solutions to enhance network performance, security, and stability
• Support efforts to expand cloud DC network footprint, while integrating existing on premise DC technologies
• Evaluate, test, and recommend new technologies
• Drive and deliver a comprehensive global network architecture that encompasses the entire network service portfolio across all firm’s sites worldwide
• Drive the transformation of legacy network solutions to innovative solutions using the Internet, Cloud, XaaS, Open Source, etc.
• Drive the evolution of architectural standards and designs using consistent service standards that are global, agile, scalable, secure and easy to maintain
• Create compelling business cases around problems, outcomes, risks, benefits and the financial justification required to execute on them
• Ensure network solutions:
  • Meet cyber safety, compliance and regulatory requirements of the business
  • Conform to network standards, are documented, kept current and keep pace with business demands
  • Are highly available, redundant, fault tolerant, diverse and affordable
• Provide technical and business input for IT infrastructure projects related to voice and data networking, and related technologies.
• Continually look for ways to increase bench strength by aligning team educational goals with ongoing and future roadmap technology initiatives
• Conduct strategic and tactical level planning in partnership with peers in IT to develop technical roadmap, and ensure delivery of supportable technology solutions that meet business needs
• Oversee design and as-built documentation to effectively handover network architecture to other departments for successful systems implementation
• Produce detailed level of effort (LOE) activities for various engagements, including but not limited to estimation and statement of work materials
• Identify efficiencies where cost savings can be redirected to emerging technologies to support business strategy
• Continuously research, evaluate and incorporate relevant tools and best practices

• Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years' IT Infrastructure experience managing, securing, operating and supporting Networking services
• Minimum of 5 years people management experience
• Proven experience successfully leading a team of subject matter experts who are culturally diverse, globally distributed, and technically focused
• Experience developing technology roadmaps, blue prints, and tactical to strategic execution plans
• Confident and effective communicator able to work closely with cross-functional teams and collaborate with all members of the organization to define and achieve holistic business and technical objectives
• Outcome driven functional leader capable of establishing, and meeting, key performance indicators and service level agreements for continually improving the performance of our cloud operations
• Strategic thinker with a strong knowledge of industry best practices and a passion for learning in order to drive the creation and execution of roadmaps outlining the technology strategy and the investments in infrastructure that will enable the company’s strategic plans
