Electrical Engineer

White Plains, NY (HYBRID WORK Schedule)Duration: 12 months w/possible Extension

Job Functions & Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Management s to coordinate with the Developer behind Generation and Transmission projects to ensure designs and specifications are reviewed so they meet the Authority’s technical requirements;Work with the System Interconnections and Standards Department • Coordinate with internal CLIENT stakeholders, NYISO, Developers, AE firms for the facility study design and conceptual design for the generator connection that requires CLIENT transmission facility modification.• Coordinate with CLIENT Environmental, Transmission Planning and Transmission Operations, CLIENT Site Engineering and CLIENT Legal to develop NDAs, facility study agreement, cost-reimbursable agreement.• Support and coordinate with Engineering, Design, Strategic Supply management (SSM), Legal, Environmental, CLIENT site owners to draft and execute Interconnection Agreement. • Develop and review responsibility matrix for the facility study and Interconnection agreement.• Prepare project request and coordinate with OPMG to generate project number and WBS codes for cost tracking.• Review Feasibility Study (FES) scope, FES report, System Reliability Impact Study (SRIS) scope and reports • Perform power flow and transient simulations using PSSE, TARA, EMTP • Coordinate with CLIENT engineering, design and sites, to provide asset information, drawings, and standards for interconnection to CLIENT transmission or generation facility

Skills
  • Strong background in substation and transmission line design, engineering and construction.• Understand how Electric Utilities interact with outside organizations, including other utilities and regulatory agencies, and with interconnecting developers.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with competing priorities • Collaborative and team player • Ability to develop complex engineering specs and perform intricate studies. • Strong background in substation and transmission line design, engineering and construction.• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. • Ability to investigate what is not intuitive and to develop solutions to non-routine problems• Familiarity and knowledge of use of PSSE, TARA

Education & CertificationsBachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power System at an accredited institution at the time of application • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience• Minimum of 3 years in project management• Experience with NYISO interconnection process, preferred • Experience with substation and transmission project development and execution. • Experience with large scale renewable projects, desired.• New York State PE, desired
