Eaton's Power Systems Division is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician - 2nd Shift to join our team. This position is based at our Olean, NY facility.

Eaton will provide a one-time signing bonus of $1,000.00. $500.00 paid after the successful completion of 3 months, and $500 paid after the successful completion of 9 months. This payment is subject to applicable tax withholdings and requires that you be an active employee in good standing at the time of payment. The Electrical Engineering Technician contributes to the overall effectiveness of the business unit by maintaining a high level of involvement, motivation, and technical expertise for maintaining, developing and improving manufacturing test procedures and advises Mfg. as to process improvements. Responsible for calibration schedules and support on equipment, including scheduling of external vendors. Making what matters work at Eaton takes the passion of every employee around the world.   • Follow general instructions from Operations team and/or established test procedures, determine need for and obtain a variety of measuring and recording devices and instrumentation to support test equipment and procedures. Provide technical guidance to production staff or maintenance personnel in making modifications to test equipment.
  • Conduct a variety of electrical tests according to general instructions and/or established test procedures. Evaluate test progress and recommend test procedure changes to provide more accurate results and/or to trace specific causes of unfavorable test results.
  • Must be able to effectively use test consoles, electrical meters, various electrical and electronic test equipment, hand tools, handling equipment, alignment equipment, gages, mechanical measuring and fitting equipment, and other products or product components to ensure products meet customer specifications.
  • Set up all test equipment and conduct a variety of electrical tests according to general instructions and/or established test procedures. Evaluate test progress and recommend test procedure changes to provide more accurate results and/or to trace specific causes of unfavorable test results.
  • Instruct less experienced personnel and maintenance staff on test procedures, equipment utilization, test data variations, etc.
  • Maintain test logs/records, prepares reports and summaries as needed. Analyzes and discusses findings with personnel and recommends modifications to improve performance able to compute and plot test data.
  • Create and maintain electrical safety programs and implement new safety control circuits.

  • Must have an Associates Degree in Electronics or Engineering arena OR a minimum of eight (8) years' experience in an electrical/electronics testing environment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years in an electronics environment utilizing blueprints/drawings
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of Olean, NY will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates degree (Certified Electronic Technician)
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of the theory behind the design of test equipment and manufacturing testing procedures.
  • Specialized knowledge in high voltage and PLC programming
  • Demonstrated understanding/knowledge in technical capacity, problem solving, decision making, learning orientation, and teamwork orientation
  • Minimum of two (2) years of electronics testing experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Efficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with other functional areas
  • Ability to communicate problems to supervisor or manager clearly and concisely
