THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE 1 DAY ON-SITE, THE REST IS REMOTEPosition SummaryThis role serves as the principal on-premise and cloud infrastructure architect and manages a small team of technical-domain architects and engineers. As the lead enterprise technology architect, this role is a central part of the Enterprise Services Architecture Board (ESAB) and collaborates closely with other enterprise architects. Weill Cornell’s environment consists of a hybrid architecture with both on-premise systems and a growing cloud presence. This leadership role bridges our hybrid architectures and provides strategic direction to the company's cloud-first initiatives.Job ResponsibilitiesEstablishes and oversees architectural best practices within the Infrastructure Engineering division. Matures the enterprise infrastructure architecture practice.Responsible to promote the EA discipline and support the development of skills critical to the success of the enterprise infrastructure architecture domain.Builds relationships with internal customers and partners to understand their needs, priorities, roadmap, and definition of success.Develops and communicates systems and solution documentation intended for both business and technical audiences.Participates in business and technology strategic planning processes and guides business and technical capability initiative roadmaps.Designs reference and solution cloud and hybrid infrastructure architectures; guides implementations as needed to support core infrastructure and business projects.Continually explores emerging infrastructure technologies, conducting proof-of-concepts and building prototypes to determine institutional relevance and viability.Leads the ITS Cloud Infrastructure Center of Excellence. Develops budgets and roadmaps for core cloud initiatives.Oversees and facilitates the work of the Technology Architecture Committee (TAC); represents the technology infrastructure domain as a core leadership member of the Enterprise Services Architecture Board (ESAB).Accountable to the Senior Technology Officer for enterprise infrastructure architecture management and planning initiatives; develops and recommends institutional standards for enterprise infrastructure architecture.Manages and mentors a team of architects and engineers.EducationBachelor's DegreeExperienceBachelor’s degree (Computer Science or related field preferred), or an equivalent combination ofeducation and experience.At least 5 years’ experience with traditional on-premise IT systems and architecture.At least 3 years’ experience as a Technical Architect, Solution Architect, or Enterprise Architect or acombination.At least 3 years’ experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure.At least 3 years’ experience with managing a technical team.Demonstrable familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, version control systems, and pipelines. Demonstrable familiarity with servers, serverless, storage, networking, databases, and security. Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture and at least one EA framework.Experience with application and integration development within a cloud provider such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, orAzure.Experience with Agile software development practices. Understanding of emerging technologies.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to translate strategic business objectives and needs to solution requirements.Ability to cultivate a shared strategic vision, articulate clear business objectives, and align the organization to achieve them.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.Ability to promote and maintain a favorable and positive work environment for oneself and others to assist in the overall mission of the medical college and hospital.Ability to assess benefit versus risk of implementing technologies.
