Job Title: Event Audio Technician & DJ Assistant

Location: Tri-State Area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) with travel to New England and

Maine

Compensation: Flat rate per event

Schedule: Flexible, including weekends and occasional weekdays; 12-hour event days

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and physically capable Event Audio

Technician to join our team. This person will also act as a key assistant to a high-level DJ who

performs at 80-100 events per year, with a focus on weddings. The ideal candidate must be

willing to work long hours, travel frequently, and be responsible for the upkeep of all sound

equipment, van maintenance, and event setup. This role is perfect for someone with a strong

technical background in live sound, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys the thrill

of high-energy live events.

Key Responsibilities:

●Audio Setup & Sound Engineering:

○Set up, test, and operate audio systems for live events, including weddings,

parties, corporate events, and more.

○Ensure the highest quality sound output, making adjustments as needed to

accommodate different venues and event types.

○Assist in designing and implementing complex sound setups, including multiple

audio systems for large events.

○Troubleshoot and resolve any audio-related issues during events.

DJ Assistance:

○Provide direct assistance to the DJ, including equipment management, cueing

music, ensuring smooth transitions, and troubleshooting technical issues as they

arise.

○Help with setting up and organizing DJ gear before and during events.

○Maintain communication with the DJ to ensure event flow and overall success.

Equipment & Van Maintenance:

○Regular maintenance and care of all audio and DJ equipment to ensure proper

functioning and longevity.

○Ensure all equipment is clean, organized, and ready for transport to each event.

○Manage van upkeep, ensuring it is clean, organized, and properly stocked with all

necessary gear for events.

○Management of June Events Storage Unit

Event Load-In/Load-Out:

○Physically load and unload equipment at event venues, requiring heavy lifting

and manual labor.

○Ensure all equipment is transported safely and set up in a timely manner.

○Break down and pack up equipment post-event, ensuring everything is

accounted for and in good condition.

Travel & Flexibility:

○Travel throughout the tri-state area and occasionally to New England and Maine

for events.

○Must be available to work on weekends and sometimes weekdays, with the

ability to work long, 12-hour days.

○Ability to work and travel late nights - with over nights in certain locations

Attention to Detail:

○Exhibit extreme attention to detail during all phases of event preparation and

execution.

○Ensure a polished and professional presence on-site at all times, representing

both the DJ and the company.

Client Relations & Professionalism:

○Present a well-groomed and professional appearance when interacting with

clients, guests, and event staff.

○Maintain positive, proactive communication with clients, vendors, and team

members before, during, and after events.

Willingness to Learn:

○Wedding and live event experience is preferred, but willingness to learn and

adapt to new environments and tasks is essential.

○Willing to continually improve technical skills and industry knowledge.

Qualifications

Experience:

○Proven experience in live sound engineering or audio tech support, with a

preference for experience in the wedding or event industry.

○Experience assisting DJs or working in live event production is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

○Must be in good physical condition to lift heavy equipment, load/unload gear, and

handle physically demanding tasks.

○Ability to work 12-hour event days and be on your feet for extended periods.

Technical Skills:

○Strong understanding of audio equipment, mixers, speakers, microphones, and

wireless systems.

○Ability to troubleshoot audio issues in real-time during events.

○Experience setting up and managing multiple sound systems at the same event

is preferred.

Personal Traits:

○Extreme attention to detail, organization, and professionalism.

○Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a

team.

○Ability to stay calm under pressure and work efficiently in a fast-paced

environment.

Other:

○A flexible schedule, with availability on weekends and occasional weekdays.

Reliable transportation to travel to events within the tri-state area and New

England.

A well-groomed, professional appearance.

Additional Information:

Travel: Must be able and willing to travel throughout the Tri-State area and New

England, including occasional trips to Maine.

Compensation: Flat rate per event: $400 - $600 Pay is commensurate with experience.
