Job Title: Furnace OperatorJob DescriptionPerform various cleaning, monitoring, and securing operations to assist in the set-up of a vacuum atomization furnace. Work from verbal and written instructions to perform repetitive tasks before, during, and after the atomization process. Assist in preparing raw material charges, running the furnace control board, making minor repairs on the furnace, atomization chamber, and other auxiliary equipment, and carrying out housekeeping duties. Assist in the removal and replacement of the furnace lid and coils, cleaning the interior of the furnace chamber and 'O' ring seal. Clean raw material charge and transport to charge area. Assist in the attachment and detachment of gas, electric, and water lines to the furnace lid and tank. Utilize an electric hoist to remove and replace the furnace lid from the furnace chamber. Clean the inside of crucibles, patch cracks, and perform other repair tasks of crucible prior to the next run. Adhere to CORE guidelines and perform CORE duties as required. Adhere to all EH&S guidelines, including wearing required personal protective equipment such as a respirator and mask. May be required to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this position in support of department objectives and to develop one’s skills.
