Description We are in search of a Gateway Agent to join our team, located in Garden City, New York. This position will involve managing international shipments, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining smooth shipment flows. Your role will require you to work three days at a third-party location in Inwood, NY, and two days remotely. This position offers a long-term contract employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Utilize your knowledge of international shipping processes, documentation, and terminology from the point of purchase order issuance to the delivery of the cargo. Initiate, prepare, process, and assemble all necessary documentation for air shipments. Distribute documentation accurately and in a timely manner to carriers, customers, and agents. Apply critical thinking and industry knowledge to solve internal and external challenges. Coordinate various shipment tasks including submission of Shipper’s Letter of Instruction (SLI), updates on bills of lading, processing pre-alerts, tracking of shipments, invoicing, etc. Maintain and update shipment data in Navisphere while ensuring data accuracy. Consolidate master records to maintain high data integrity and ensure accuracy in routing and adherence to INCOterms. Communicate effectively with internal teams, overseas offices, agents, customers, and vendors. Foster positive working relationships among team members. Ensure compliance with local and global laws, regulations, and procedures. Requirements Must possess excellent Customer Service skills for addressing client queries and concerns Strong Communication skills for effective interaction with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams Proficient in Documentation procedures to maintain data integrity and ensure compliance Familiarity with Invoice generation and submission processes Knowledge of different Shipping Functions and Consolidations Ability to work with Vendors and manage Purchase Orders Proficiency in using software like 'About Time' and 'Microsoft Office Suites' Understanding of Law Regulation related to the shipping industry Ability to Execute tasks with precision and prioritization Creativity and Innovation skills to bring new ideas and processes to the team Critical Thinking skills to solve complex problems and make informed decisions Understanding of Standard Operation Procedures in the shipping industry Commitment to maintaining Compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
