Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Grant Accountant in the non-profit sector, based in New York. As a Grant Accountant, your role will be to manage and monitor grant budgets and projections, perform related journal entries, and work on cash flow. You will also collaborate with Program Managers on expenditure and assist with monthly financial reporting.Responsibilities: Keeping track of grant budgets and projections to ensure proper funding Executing journal entries pertinent to grant management to maintain accurate records Managing cash flows to ensure financial stability Collaborating with Program Managers to monitor and control spending Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial reports to provide insights on financial status Conducting account reconciliations to verify the accuracy of transactions Performing bank reconciliations to ensure all financial data aligns Overseeing the general ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness Utilizing Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial reporting Conducting month-end close processes to maintain timely and accurate financial records Applying grant accounting principles in financial management to ensure compliance with regulations. Requirements Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role or in the field of accounting. Proficient in Account Reconciliation, with the ability to effectively balance and reconcile accounts. Experience in conducting Bank Reconciliations, ensuring all financial transactions align with bank statements. Skilled in maintaining and managing General Ledgers, including the preparation and posting of journal entries. Proficiency in creating and managing Journal Entries, demonstrating a solid understanding of debits and credits. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the use of pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis tools. Experience in Month End Close procedures, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date at the end of each month. Prior experience in Grant Accounting within a non-profit organization, with a deep understanding of grant regulations and compliance requirements.
