18.21-19.39 per hour | Canandaigua, NY, USA | Hourly | Full Time The Arc Ontario Habilitation Specialist Salary: $18.21 - $19.39 Position Overview: The Community Habilitation Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of assigned sites, ensuring that individual program plans are effectively implemented to promote personal independence, community integration, and productivity for participants. This role offers opportunities to develop relationships and engage with the community while providing variety in day-to-day tasks. The specialist provides guidance and support to Direct Support Professionals, ensures the proper execution of program plans, and offers hands-on assistance and instruction in various life skills to promote participant well-being. Additionally, the specialist collaborates with team members to evaluate and address participant needs, provides transportation, documents progress, and serves as a role model for both participants and staff. The position may also require administering medications, using behavior management techniques, and attending training sessions. Work Location: Canandaigua, NY Schedule: M-F 7:30am-3:30pm; Flexibility in schedule required to meet agency needs. Responsible for day to day operation of assigned rooms/sites, including the development of daily schedules. Works closely with Direct Support Professionals, Program Supervisor and Manager to ensure that services and activities are implemented, documented and provided in accordance with program plans. Meets regularly with Program Supervisor to assess the effectiveness of assignments to ensure that participant needs are being addressed and appropriate services are being provided.

Uses specialized strategies or techniques when working with individuals as requested by the individual's family, care coordinator, clinicians, or other members of an individual's treatment team.

Serves as a role model for individual's receiving habilitation support services, demonstrating social or other behaviors appropriate to the particular program or community setting location. Serves as a role model for other staff by using techniques associated with Positive Approaches and All Staff Are Teachers instruction.

Requirements

High School Diploma and one year relevant experience or an equivalent amount of education and/or experience.
