Please Note: This position allows remote work from home but will require travel to our Voya office weekly. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance from the Windsor, CT or NYC office.

Get to know the opportunity

The Technical Lead will partner with business and deliver solutions while working as part of a technology team focused on support of our Investment Management organization. Responsible for managing application development and support teams, supporting multiple business functions within IM. The candidate will need to be a hands-on developer and be able to multi-task with managing agile development teams. Directly responsible for results produced by the team/group/sub-unit managed.

The candidate should possess excellent verbal/written communication skills, strong analytical ability and hold a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar curriculum.

The contributions you will make
  • Candidate will have a variety of accountabilities as a leader of agile development teams.
  • Staff and supervise application development teams to ensure results meet negotiated customer expectations and adhere to internal IT standards, methodologies, and strategies.
  • Will be involved multiple project types (long, mid, short term) where the ability to multi-task is essential.
  • Proven ability to manage problem solving, troubleshooting and triage situations that bring matters to a successful conclusion.
  • Troubleshoot special problems and lead performance improvement efforts for one's area based on a solid understanding of the technical concepts, methods, and practices applied by reporting staff.
  • Collaborates with customers, staff, IT colleagues, and other stakeholders to identify customer requirements, assess impacts to other data, systems, products or services, compare costs and benefits, consider available technologies and processes and recommends solutions.
  • This role includes business day user support and overnight support rotation for applications developed and supported by our team. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly understand how each application functions in order to troubleshoot issues, determine appropriate resolution and communicate resolution clearly with our business customers.
  • Monitor and report to IT management and user/customer management on the status of multiple, concurrent project or service efforts.
  • Develops and manages business plan(s) and budget(s) for functional area; identifies resource needs and develops supporting justifications for them; responsible for the overall success unit managed.
  • Responsible for representing Voya to suppliers, vendors and customers.

Minimum knowledge and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a directly related field; Master's Degree preferred and/or equivalent work experience.
  • 10 years of progressively responsible experience in software development
  • Demonstrated success in project management and execution with involvement in multiple major projects or a sustained record of success delivering complex IT services to a diverse clientele.
  • 8+ years of IT experience with a direct responsibility for application integration, database architecture, middleware and UX.
  • Strong Relational database development experience, including database design, implementation, SQL query skills. Microsoft SQL Server is preferred (MS SQL 2019/2016/2012). Data warehouse experience is a plus.
  • Strong experience of working with Microsoft Development tools, including Azure DevOps/TFS, C#.NET and/or ASP.NET MVC.
  • Web development tools including HTML5, Web API, Angular, JavaScript, jQuery, LINQ, CSS, Kendo UI/Telerik, MVC.
  • Experience supporting job processing streams and scheduling environment is required.
  • Experience with Python, Power BI, Microsoft Azure Cloud services is a strong plus.
  • Must have financial industry experience to be able to facilitate discussions with business
  • Ability to research, reproduce, troubleshoot, and solve challenging technical issues
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Ability to work in agile environment and fill different roles within the team
  • Self-motivated with ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision

Compensation Pay Disclosure:

Voya is committed to pay that's fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate's geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

$137,240 - $181,680 USD
