Summary

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to manage the development of core capabilities in our award-winning Financial Planning application. You will manage a team, mentor developers, interact with the business, contribute to the design, hire team members, help steer the process, and contribute directly to a sophisticated fintech platform. You will have direct exposure to technology such as Kotlin, MongoDB, NodeJS, RabbitMQ, REST and gRPC, GraphQL, and domain-driven design. The crux of the work will focus on a major refactor of the back-end components using newer technology and approaches.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Consistent delivery of a two-week product increment via Scrum
  • Act as primary point of responsibility for code quality
  • Take a primary role in evolving the architecture and design choices
  • Work at a high level with business stakeholders to refine requirements
  • Estimate new increments
  • Identify and resolve security vulnerabilities and code quality issues
  • Hire new team members
  • Identify performance and quality issues and use your team's resources to resolve them
Qualifications
  • Demonstrable success in leading software development teams in SOA projects
  • Expert-level knowledge of back-end software development
  • Fluency in Kotlin/Java and common platforms/frameworks (NodeJS, React, Spring Boot) sufficient to facilitate code reviews, understand existing features, and move designs forward.
  • Familiarity with the ins and outs of Scrum (or other Agile methodology)
  • Experience designing APIs with a formal REST methodology
  • Experience using git and managing code quality via pull requests
  • Knowledge of current architecture, and popular approaches to solving problems with software
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience
