GTC plays a significant role in the Middle and Back-office treasury functions, financial reporting processes for the Company’s cash, debt, securities and financing transactions, investments, and derivatives ensuring the Capital, Liquidity and Exposure Management needs of the company are met while closely partnering with Treasury Organization.This manager role is within the Advisory and valuation team of GTC and is responsible for leading accounting, valuations and advisory functions pertaining to Treasury organization. The individual is also responsible for ensuring appropriate and consistent reporting as well as ensuring control and compliance over reporting across the Company’s Treasury portfolio and will support key dynamic projects across the team.Responsibilities include:

Manage the company’s ongoing initiatives that impact GTC (products such as debt, investment, derivative and hedging transactions, fair value measurements, etc.)

Support and the company’s growing external reporting requirements

Ensuring compliance with Hedge Accounting standards, including hedge documentation, effectiveness assessment and ineffectiveness measurement under ASC 815.

Build and maintain successful collaboration with business partners, e.g. Treasury, External Reporting, SOX, Exposure Management, Global Accounting Policy Group, Legal and Tax

Participate in projects driving automation and process enhancements

Establish end-to-end processes, controls, dashboards / metrics and requirements for sponsored projects

Document procedures and maintain compliance with reporting controls

Support internal and external audit

Additional opportunities to assist with the valuation of AXP’s Balance Sheet, including FX and interest rate swap derivative portfolios

Qualifications:

3 - 5 years’ experience in Audit, Accounting, or Finance – Big 4 experience or CPA preferred

Basic understanding of accounting, valuation and reporting related to derivatives, investments, debt and cash, preferred

Controls experience, a plus

Regulatory reporting experience, a plus

Basic understanding of US GAAP required – knowledge of ASC 815, 820, or 830, required

Very strong communication, prioritization, presentation, and organizational skills

Possess abilities to challenge the status quo and apply a process-improvement mindset

Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint

Working knowledge of Oracle, Tableau and MS Access, a plus

Experience in Treasury/Treasury Controllership and/or knowledge of capital markets a plus,

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance

QualificationsSalary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefitsEmployment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
