Position Overview The Manager, Analytics – Advanced Insights oversees project delivery for NPD’s Analytics team, working closely with our commercial teams to develop insights for clients that will guide them towards successful actions.This role contributes to growth by delivering high-impact studies, results, and recommendations that drive successful client outcomes, leading to retained or expanded sales to existing clients. This position also supports the sales process for new and existing clients, mainly by refining the understanding of a business issue in order to design the best approach to address it.

Location This position can be located in the following area(s): Port Washington, NYC, Chicago, Canada

Responsibilities This is a client-facing leadership role in the Advanced Insights team within NPD’s Analytics group. The role is focused on point-of-sale (POS) reporting, with support for other project work including forecasting and pricing analytics. It includes a mix of project management, team leadership, and project work including proposal support and hands-on research and delivery. The Manager/Director role will also support product development efforts such as discovery with clients, identifying new approaches, testing, development, process automation, process documentation, training, etc.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Support and manage large-scale analytical research projects through all stages. This includes client engagement; proposal development and support; study design including methodology, data management and preparation; project analysis and refinement; reporting of results, including recommendation development and business implications; and creation and presentation of final research reports
  • Work with our commercial (client development) teams to understand client needs and translate those needs into research questions that can be analyzed and reported in engaging, scalable ways
  • Supervise and train junior group members
  • Lead project teams through quality assurance and client delivery processes supporting multiple initiatives concurrently; ensure all projects are fully documented and adhere to QA best practices
  • Create project plans and support the development of clear, concise proposals to explain and sell the work
  • Hands-on data preparation, analytical planning (project design), reporting, and visualization of results
  • Analyze data and interpret results to identify opportunities for client action
  • Tell great visual and written stories to inspire client action
  • Consistently deliver high quality, complete and error-free work, personally and in conjunction with your team
  • Be responsible for project outcomes, ensuring success from start to finish
  • Provide input on ways to make our work faster and simpler to provide greater client impact; collaborate as needed with the Advanced Analytics Product team to support the development of processes and software platforms to enable more scalable delivery
  • Contribute to product discovery activities by keeping informed on industry and academic developments in your field and sharing with our teams
  • Participate in recruiting and training efforts for our team

  • Knowledge of key methodologies such as time-series analysis, regression/drivers analysis, price evaluation, and forecasting a plus
  • Experience in Databricks, SAS Enterprise Guide, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of other programming languages and statistical packages a plus: SQL, R, Python, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen and clarify client objectives translating their needs into clear and feasible plans for resolving business issues
  • Comfort presenting to, proposing to, and negotiating with clients and sales teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex methods to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities effectively
  • 5-10 years of related experience in marketing analytics or similar field
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field, masters or higher a plus
  • Willingness to travel <20% as needed
