Position requires a blend of technical expertise, keen attention to detail, and a strong understanding/desire to learn of fabricating and finishing materials to create premium cultured stone products for both residential and commercial use.

Your primary responsibility will be to apply your skills to achieve a smooth, polished, and durable finish per specifications on products such as vanity tops, sinks, bathtubs, and shower surrounds, ensuring the highest quality standards are met.

$17–$23/hour, depending on experience Medical, 401(k), and paid vacation available after initiation period

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Preparation and Setup

Work Area Setup: Preparing the work environment by ensuring that all necessary tools, equipment, and safety gear are available and in good working condition.

Material Inspection: Inspecting the cultured stone pieces for defects, such as cracks, chips, or imperfections that could affect the finish.

Cleaning: Ensuring that all materials are free of dust, dirt, or contaminants before starting the finishing process.

2. Sanding and Polishing

Sanding: Using various grits of sandpaper or sanding machines to smooth the surface of the cultured stone, removing any rough spots or imperfections. This step often involves both hand and machine sanding.

Polishing: Applying polishing compounds to the surface to achieve the requested, high-quality finish. This may involve buffing with polishing wheels or pads.

Edge Finishing: Polishing or shaping the edges of cultured marble items to ensure smoothness and a professional appearance.

3. Quality Control

Inspection: Carefully inspecting the finished cultured marble products to ensure they meet the required standards for aesthetics, quality, and functionality. This includes checking for even finishes, color consistency, and flawless surfaces.

Touch-ups: Performing any final touch-ups on small imperfections or areas that did not meet the quality standards.

Measurement: Ensuring that the dimensions of the finished product are accurate and consistent with order specifications.

5. Maintenance of Tools and Equipment

Tool Maintenance: Regularly maintaining and cleaning sanding, polishing, and buffing tools to ensure they are in optimal working condition.

Inventory Management: Keeping track of finishing supplies, such as polishing compounds, sandpaper, and protective sealers, and notifying supervisors when supplies need to be reordered.

6. Safety and Compliance

Safety Standards: Adhering to all safety protocols, such as wearing protective gloves, goggles, and masks to protect against dust, chemicals, and other hazards.

Environmental Considerations: Following environmental guidelines for waste disposal and minimizing exposure to potentially harmful materials or fumes during finishing processes.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Attention to Detail: Strong ability to identify surface imperfections and ensure a high-quality finish.

Manual Dexterity: The job requires precision and the ability to handle tools and materials carefully.

Physical Stamina: The job can involve long hours of standing, bending, and lifting heavy materials.

Preferred:

Experience with Marble or Stone Finishing: Previous experience working with cultured marble, stone, or similar materials is preferred.

Knowledge of Finishing Techniques: Familiarity with various sanding, polishing, and sealing techniques specific to cultured marble.

Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to work in a safe, controlled manner.

Tools and Equipment:

Sanding machines and pads (orbital, belt, etc.)

Buffing and polishing wheels

Polishing compounds

Protective coatings/sealers

Safety equipment (gloves, goggles, respirators)

Hand tools for edge detailing

Work Environment:

9,000 SF manufacturing warehouse.
