A leading transportation authority located in New York, NY is looking for a .Net/ Oracle Developer for a 12 month contract.

Some onsite work is required throughout the life of the contract, and is likely to increase over time. Local candidates only.

To be considered for this position, the client has advised that upon placement, consultants will be required to wear a mask under certain circumstances, show proof of full vaccination or submit on a weekly basis proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR diagnostic test.

Requirements and skills

  • The candidate must have programming experience with HTML, CSS, XML, ASP.NET C# and Visual Studio .Net, should be familiar with other programming languages such as Visual Basic and Pascal.
  • The candidate must have a good working knowledge of Windows XP and higher.
  • .Net: C# (asp.net, ability to connect to database from the application, run queries and stored procedures, create reports in DevExpress) They can use other tools available in .Net, but they need to at least understand the existing codes that I wrote.
  • Microsoft Access
  • VBA (Excel and Access)
  • SQL Server (create scripts for tables, views, stored procedures, T-SQL statements to update, delete, insert, create objects, use SSDT in Visual Studio to create packages and schedule jobs)
  • Candidate should show the ability to solve problems after looking at documents, applications, and SQL scripts, and find out what needs to be done to create and modify applications to make them work.
  • candidate should be familiar with visual studio tool and MS SQL Server Management Studio
  • 1-2 years' experience: Expert Excel focus macros and MS Excel
  • 2-4 years' experience: .Net Framework, MS Access, SQL, SQL Server, VBScript, Visual Basic Script, Visual Studios, .NET code development, GUI design in a .NET framework, Structured Query Language (SQL) and VBA

Responsibilities

  • Design, code and test application software using .NET as the front-end development tool and Oracle DB as a back-end database
  • Provide additional technical assistance with custom development and support activities as directed by the designated agency Project Manager. This includes knowledge transfer in the areas of .NET, Oracle SQL and PL-SQL programming and performance monitoring
  • Assist agency staff with learning how to develop and implement .NET, JAVA script, JAVA applets.
  • The candidate would be responsible for coding the user interface including data entry screens and operations screens for display, selection and creation of operational schedules derived from agency provided schedules, creation of planned and unplanned messages for use with the operation schedule(s) in chronological order or displayed immediately when an exception or emergency occurs
  • Create and test applications with agency staff for the various operating environments; Incorporate and adapt the same mechanisms for new passenger information signs that agency will purchase.
