Network AdministratorThe IT Network Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of our wired and wireless local area data network with primary responsibility for the manufacturing site in Norwich, NY and secondary responsibility for office locations in Pine Brook and Morristown, NJ. In addition to responsibilities related to network administration, the Network Admin will also provide support for the onsite telephony system in Norwich and will assist with general user support. They will assist the Sr. Network Engineer in administering our wide area network, also perform other IT job functions and support duties as assigned by the Manager IT Infrastructure. This position is predominantly onsite (not remote). ORGANIZATION STRUCTUREThe IT Network Administrator reports to the Sr. Manager IT Infrastructure. This is a technical administration role, not a management role. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Local Area Network Design, Implementation, Validation, and Maintenance for both wired and wireless infrastructure
  • Design physical and logical local area network architecture
  • Install, configure, and qualify networking equipment and wiring
  • Implement changes to network equipment and configuration according to business requirements
  • Manage firmware/operating system updates to network equipment
  • Monitor local area and wide area network utilization and capacity
  • Manage network services including DHCP, DNS, VPN, Radius authentication
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues
  • Wide Area Network Support
  • Support physical and logical wide area network architecture to provide connectivity between physical sites and cloud services.
  • Install, configure, and qualify wide area networking equipment according to design specifications.
  • Implement changes to network equipment and configuration according to business requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve WAN-related issues
  • Network Security
  • Install, configure and maintain perimeter threat management devices (firewalls, intrusion monitors, advance threat protection devices)
  • Collaborate with corporate IT security officer to ensure LAN security measures are maintained according to corporate standards and industry best-practices.
  • Monitor for indications of network based electronic threats and respond to suspected security breaches
  • Participate in network security assessments and manage required remediation efforts.
  • Network Attached Device Support
  • Provide technical support for networking of factory-floor and laboratory LAN attached equipment.
  • Provide technical support for network attached devices (printers, scanners, clocks, etc.)
  • Telephony Support
  • Provide technical support for Norwich site telephony system (Avaya Definity digital PBX)
  • Administer and support associated voicemail system
  • Provision phone numbers and voicemail ccounts
  • Troubleshoot issues with telephones
  • Vendor Management
  • Manage incident reporting and tracking with external providers of data and voice communication services
  • Manage equipment support agreements for network equipment
  • Manage services provided under Xerox support agreement
  • Equipment Management
  • Manage and maintain network equipment and associated software
  • Maintain inventory of network equipment
  • Documentation
  • Develop and maintain network design documentation
  • Develop and maintain wire plant documentation
  • Secondary Duties
  • Provide general end user support
  • Provide backup for server admin
  • QUALIFICATIONSREQUIRED
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology related field or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in network management and support roles.
    • Ability to quickly learn and understand emerging technologies.
    • Experience with configuration and management of firewall, edge security, and threat management devices. Specific experience with Fortigate security devices desirable
    • Experience with configuration and management of enterprise WiFi networks. Specific experience with Meraki wireless solution desirable.
    • Experience with AAA network authentication and Windows Network Policy Server (NPS/RADIUS)
    • Strong interpersonal skills; functions well in a team environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
    DESIRED
    • Experience with both Cisco and HP Procurve/Aruba network equipment
    • CCNA Routing and Switching certification
    • MCSA Certification
    • Windows Server administration skills
    • Prior experience managing technology in a GxP regulated environment.
