Prepares, measures, calibrates, and administers radioactive isotopes in therapeutic and diagnostic tracer doses under physicians' orders, utilizing a variety of nuclear medicine equipment.
Performs diagnostic imaging procedures (planar and SPECT), utilizing a variety of nuclear medicine gamma cameras.
Inputs patient information into a dedicated nuclear medicine computer.Processes computerized patient information.
Measures radioactive isotope uptake in patients, using non-imaging techniques.
Performs quality control procedures on equipment, using standardized radioactive sources and techniques.
Performs in vitro nuclear medicine laboratory procedures, i.e., blood volumes, Schilling tests.
Responsible for kit preparation, including quality control procedures of the radiopharmaceuticals, eluding the technetium generator, and the documentation of all required information.
Prepares radioactive waste material for disposal.
Performs related duties, as required.
ADA Essential FunctionsJob Qualification
Must attain the following within one (1) year of employment.Registration by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).AND/ORCertification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Board.
Current New York State License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, required.
BLS certification, required.
Familiarity with standard nuclear medicine procedures, instruments and equipment, required.
Knowledge of computer applications applicable to nuclear medicine procedures, required.
